Our region of Canada has many excellent trout fishing lakes where fish up to and even exceeding 20 pounds can be caught. Lake Trout can be found in as little as 10 feet of water the first few weeks after ice out but go much deeper during the summer. Down riggers or heavy jigs tipped with bait work excellent on summer lakers and the fish are pretty predictable in terms of location. Look between 50 and 100 feet down in late June, July and August.
